Marla earned her Associate Degree in Nursing in 1979, followed by a Baccalaureate in Nursing from Seattle Pacific University in 1985 and most recently earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Pacific Lutheran University in 1994. She is employed by Harrison Medical Center where she serves in a senior leadership position, where in August she will accept a Vice President position at Harrison.
Marla is a 1996 graduate of Leadership Kitsap, a local leadership program dedicated to the development of community leaders. She currently is serving on the Leadership Kitsap Board of Directors where she will enter the office of President in July. She also serves as Past President for the Leadership Kitsap Alumni Association.
She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society for Nursing. Marla is also a member of Northwest Organization of Nurse Executives, currently serving on the Finance Committee. She was recognized as an Unsung Hero in 1998 by The SUN newspaper and was 1997 Harrison Hospital Foundation Volunteer of the Year. Marla began serving on the Festival of Trees Executive Committee in 2003 and continues to serve that Committee today.
Marla is a Kitsap Credit Union member. In May 2005, she was named as the newest member of the Kitsap Credit Union Board of Directors. She will begin serving as Secretary of the Board this year.
Marla is a lifelong Washington State resident and resides in Manchester with husband, Kerry Gust.
